All these wins have come against former light heavyweight champions, starting with Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291 before beating Prozachka at UFC 295 to win the vacant title. He stepped up to beat Jamahal Hill to retain the title at UFC 300.

Round 1: Both men start in orthodox stance. Jiri switches to southpaw quickly. He goes back to orthodox again after they exchange kicks. Pereira lands a left hook. Jiri lands a jab. They exchange calf kicks. Another calf kick from Pereira. He lands a couple of good jabs. Jiri also connects a good punch but Pereira quickly counters with leg. Pereira continues to pile up calf kicks. Jiri blocks a kick to the ribs. They continue to exchange strikes. Jiri pushes Pereira to the cage after looking for a takedown. Jiri keeps him stuck to the cage while they both attempt shots from close. They separate in the final 30 seconds. More shots from both sides with Pereira looking better in the exchange once again. Pereira wins the round with a left hook to drop Jiri to the mat.

Round 2: Pereira starts the round with a question mark kick to the head to drop Jiri for good. He follows up with hammerfists and the referee finally has to stop the fight.

Official Decision: Alex Pereira won via TKO(punches) at 0:13 in round 2.
